When Denbigh in Bloom was established in 2016, we quickly realised how important it was for us to engage with the local community and create green spaces that could be enjoyed by everyone.
We started working with the Dementia Friendly Denbigh group and our volunteers attended a session where we pledged to work towards being Dementia Friendly in our programmes across town.
Most recently, we've created the new Sensory garden in Lower Parc, with easy access for older residents and wheelchair users in mind. There is seating, some cover and raised planters for easy access to the sensory planting that has been put in place by the children of Ysgol Frongoch. We're so grateful to Cheryl Williams, Dilwyn Jones and Rebecca Bowcott for supporting our work and we're pleased to see the plaque marking their contribution on the benches at Lower Parc. They are a perfect spot to take in the views, get some fresh air and enjoy the planting and forget me nots that have been crafted by the residents of Dolwen, Plas Eleri and Llys Meddyg.
As ever, we're always looking for more volunteers to keep these projects looking their best, so if you want to get involved, get in touch!
